Elevated beds with decent room to grow.....
Gardener's Supply has a couple of great elevated bed products that we pictured on our Great Resources page. The first one is a 4' x 8' bed that is 22" high. The height makes it easier to work on, especially if you like using a stool, and it allows for long root vegetables like carrots.
The second one has a garden bed area 3' x 6' (that's 18 square foot gardening sections) and it has a trellis that leans down to make a cover at night. So if you have little critters coming out for a midnight feast, you can say "not tonight."
The reasons we like these are: they are elevated and have enough space to grow plants. The first one gives you 32 square feet of gardening space, the second 18. Some of the smaller elevated beds are ok for a patio and a hobby, but if you want to grow more plants you will need at least this much room.

We do earn Commissions.....
We search for products we like, products that make sense to those of us who want to grow our own organic food. We do tell you about those in this blog, and in many (but not all) cases we have an affiliate arrangement wherein we earn a commission if you buy something.
var vglnk = {key: '34cb7b91f7abc02ac5fdd51679e69924'};
(function(d, t) {
var s = d.createElement(t);s.type = 'text/javascript';
s.async = true;s.src = '//cdn.viglink.com/api/vglnk.js';
var r = d.getElementsByTagName(t)[0];
r.parentNode.insertBefore(s, r);
}(document, 'script'));
We will also post an "ad" on our Great Resources page. There you can click on it and it will take to the product website for more information and to buy if you are interested. We earn commissions if you buy.
We do not promote products we do not believe in, therefore you will only see products every here and there.

Products that help us grow some of our own food…
We look for products that make sense in our (and your) quest to grow some of your own organic food. When we find one we like we will tell you about it.
If you have a patio and want to do square foot gardening, Burpee's Plant Inn Snap and Grow Greenhouse looks very interesting. It is an elevated greenhouse, so it easy to work with. The dimensions are 46 1/2 inches by 46 1/2 inches. That is almost 4 feet by 4 feet, so you would have 16 sections to grow. The mini greenhouse has polycarbonate panels that help keep the warmth in on a chilly morning or keep the heavy rain out on a stormy day. Because the growing bed is elevated, there is room underneath for storage.
This product is similar to one that I had been watching back several years ago, the GrowCamp. GrowCamp was designed in Denmark and was an innovation in small greenhouse gardening. It had a roof, and panels along the side. It was about 3 foot by 3 foot. I cannot find it on any site in the US for sale, it was pricey and perhaps that is why.
Burpee's Plant Inn Snap and Grow, is a similar product at a much better price. The Plant Inn Snap and Grow is larger so you can grow more and it has the storage area underneath. If you want easy gardening in a small area, take a look at this solution. You can divide the area into one foot squares and read the book "Square Foot Gardening" by Mel Bartholomew.
